A Jerusalem court has extended the remand of two Meah Shearim residents arrested during a protest at Kikar Shabbos on Sunday, 7 Iyar 5772. The two are charged with disturbing the peace as they blocked streets during a demonstration in Meah Shearim. The court also decided that a third detainee, a minor, will be released within 48 hours.
The court accepted the police request to extent their remands for an additional day.
The protest was held on Sunday, on Meah Shearim and Shivtei Yisrael Streets to protest digging and construction in Yavne, which Asra Kadisha feels is disturbing kevarim. The protestors block buses and threw stones, breaking windows of at least one bus.
Baruch Hashem no injuries were reported.

They weren’t arrested for breaking windows as may be mistaken from this article, but for disturbing the peace. The minor will be released within 48 hours?!? A minor 3 days in jail for disturbing the peace???
