The High Court of justice on Sunday, 7 Iyar 5772 responded partially to a state request and granted a 60 day extension to the May 1, 2012 eviction deadline for Beit El’s Ulpana neighborhood. The government is working tenaciously to find a solution rather than address evicting families from their homes in the Shomron community.
The state requested a 90 days but will have to make due to the 60-days granted by the High Court. That means the state will have to find a solution by July 1, 2012 or evict the residents of the buildings in question.
In the same matter, the left-wing Meretz Party petitioned the court as well, requesting that it reject any petitions for extensions by the state in the matter, seeking to expedite the eviction of Jews from their homes as much as possible.
