A vehicle drove off the (elevated) Bronx River Parkway at the Bronx Zoo Sunday afternoon, killing seven the occupants, sources tell YWN.
The horrific crash occurred on the southbound side of the highway at East 180th Street around 12:30PM.
Police said the van was headed south Sunday afternoon on the Bronx River Parkway. It bounced off the median, crossed all southbound lanes over to the guardrail and fell 100 feet into the yard, in a non-public part of the zoo.
No animals or people on the ground were hurt.
It’s not clear what caused the van to go out of control.
Sources confirm to YWN that children are among the fatalities. The southbound side of the Bronx River Parkway is completely closed, as an investigation is underway.
Misaskim services are not needed in this tragic crash.

Can you imagine? Going to the zoo and the next thing you know…. How horiffic. Everyone during Shemonei Esrei, 3 times a day, think about Moidim with kavana. Its the least we can do. From one second to the next things can take a tragic turn for the worst. Hashem Yishmor
I’m glad no Yidden are involved but this is a terrible tragedy. The carnage must be devastating. The radio report I heard seemed more concerned that no animals were injured than that 7 people were killed. When are we going to get our priorities right?
@hml:
WE do have our priorities straight.
gregaaron, yes, Yidden do. I was speaking more globally, i.e. the human race as a whole. There are many who think animals are more important than human beings.
Only a liberal can write
“No animals or people on the ground were hurt” (animals before people)
