Members of Netzach Yehuda, the IDF Nachal Chareidi Brigade as it is more commonly known learned Torah on Memorial Day in memory of the fallen, including the single Nachal Chareidi soldier that fell in the line of duty, Sergeant Ro’i Farjon HY”D. He was killed on 25 Av 5766 in an encounter with terrorists, becoming their first korban in the ongoing fight for Eretz Yisrael.
In addition to learning mishnayos the soldiers took part in official Memorial Day ceremonies and participated in events in Yahud. After visiting the kever of their fallen companion, they held a shiur in his memory in the home of the family.

what’s this trying to say????
@1. better not even ask.
No. 1, it’s saying that the Nachal Chareidi marks memorial day in Jewishly appropriate ways, which is of course better than other ways but leaves unanswered why these men are in the army and not in yeshiva or kollel.
#1 This is trying to say that the chaverim of the fallen soldier from Nachal Charedei spent “memorial day” learning b’zechus their fallen chaver.
@3
Becouse some of us know we dont have the zitsfleish to sit and learn in kollel, so that makes us obligeted to serve in the IDF (yes i served)
#3, Not everybody is suited for full-time learning. Those who are should do so; those who are not should do other mitzvos, such as defending Jewish lives.
