Thousands of people attended the Levayos held for Hagon HaRav Simcha Schustal ZATZAL, the Rosh Yeshivah of Beis Binyomin in Stamford, who was Niftar on Monday night.
There were three Levayos in the Tri-State Area.
The first was held on Tuesday morning in Lakewood, where an estimated 10,000 turned out for the Levaya. Maspidim were HaRav Malkiel Kotler, Rosh Yeshiva BMG, HaRav Shmuel Kamenetsky, Rosh Yeshiva Philadelphia Yeshiva, HaRav Yeruchem Olshin, Rosh Yeshiva BMG, HaRav Dovid Schustal, Rosh Yeshiva BMG, and HaRav Yitzchok Perman, R”M in the Philadelphia Yeshiva.
The Levaya the proceeded to Stamford Connecticut, where an estimated 3-5 thousand people attended. Maspidim were HaRav Meir Hershkowitz, Rosh Yeshivas Bais Binyomin of Stamford, the Mattersdorfer Rov (brother-in-law of the Niftar), HaRav Moshe Green, Rosh Yeshiva Yeshiva D’Monsey, HaRav Chaim Epstein, Rosh Yeshiva Zichron Melech, HaRav Lipa Margulies, Rosh Yeshiva Torah Temimah, HaRav Yeruchem Zeilberger, Rosh Yeshiva Bais Hatalmud, and HaRav Shlomo Feivel Schustal, Rosh Yeshiva Torah Temimah.
The Levaya then proceeded to JFK Airport, where Misaskim had arranged for the massive crowd to gather at the parking lot of the old Ramada Hotel. A Hesped was delivered by the Novaminsker Rebbe. There were approximately 3,000 people at the Levaya in the airport.
Misaskim also arranged for close Talmidim of the Rosh Yeshiva to go onto the tarmac and assist in placing the Aron onto the airplane.
The Levaya in Eretz Yisroel is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at 2:45PM, at Yeshiva Bais Shmuel, on Rechov Ponim Meiros in Yerushalayim. The Kevura will be held on Har HaZeisim.
Rav Schustal is survived by his rebbetzin, a daughter of the previous Mattesdorfer Rov ZATZAL, as well as a large family of roshei yeshiva, marbitzei Torah and talmidei chachomim.
Rav Simcha has three sons: Rav Dovid Schustal, Rosh Yeshiva BMG, Rav Shlomo Feivel Schustal, Rosh Yeshiva Torah Temimah, and Rav Tovia Schustal, R”M in Yeshiva Ateret Torah.
His daughters are married to Rav Yerachmiel Ungarischer, Rosh Yeshiva Nachlas Yisroel in Lakewood, Rav Binyomin Halpern, a Morah D’asra in Lakewood, Rav Yeruchem Zeilberger, Rosh Yeshiva at Bais Hatalmud and Rav Michoel Bender, R”M in the Stamford Yeshiva.

I learn here in lakewood and attended the Levaya, what a sight it was, as i’m from england we don’t often or better said we don’t get to see a crowd of over 10 thousand jews gathered together. It was a massive expirence for me. Unfortunately it was at a levaya. i don’t even know the niftar but i felt a zechus to be there, and it wil be something i will remember for life.
