French Ambassador to Israel Christophe Bigot became a crime statistic as he was mugged in the area of Nabi Musa, Yediot Achronot reports. The muggers made off with the ambassador’s cellular telephone, wallet and money.

The ambassador did not resist and he found himself in a somewhat embarrassing situation, stranded without any means of communication.

Bigot filed an official complaint with police in Tel Aviv and told reporters he is over the incident, adding he simply should not have been walking in that area himself. He added that the muggers thought he was a regular tourist, unaware of his diplomatic position, and they did not have a weapon or harm him in any way.
