A Jerusalem District Court judge on Sunday, 30 Nissan 5772 convicted avreich Yaakov Blau of Meah Shearim of a number of serious charges including assault and stealing jewelry from his victims at knifepoint. Justice Rafi Carmel was lenient regarding charges of breaking and entering and imprisoning victims.
The indictment addressed two instances that occurred over a year ago in which Blau arrived at the home of a victim on Yissa Bracha Street and knocked on the door. He then grabbed his victim by the throat, closed the door, locked it and pushed her inside the apartment.
Threatening the victim with a knife he demanded jewelry and upon leaving, threatened to kill her if anyone was told of what occurred. A second attack occurred a number of days later on Avraham Talmudai Street. In this case, the woman began screaming but he quickly silenced her. He stole jewelry from the bedroom and other valuables from the living room.
The avreich was also convicted on a third charge. He summoned a man by the name of Muhmad to sell the stolen merchandise. The man who was to fence the stolen goods arrived at the avreich’s Ramot Jerusalem home where he was shown the merchandise. The avreich also gave him the keys to his father’s Mazda, asking Muhmad to take it to Ramallah to sell it there as well.
Blau did not deny his forced entry into the two homes to steal valuables, but denied any violence towards the victims. He told the court his parents had nine daughters and he received good treatment from them so he would not harm other women.
The avreich was married in the past, now divorced and under the care of a psychiatrist. He received monetary support from his parents but when that stopped, he decided to steal valuable to support himself since he does not have regular employment.
The court also ordered the parents of the avreich to make compensatory payment to the two victims in the amount of 28,000 NIS and 20,000 NIS.

The court should be pleased. The hilonim want frummies to get jobs that fit into the norms of secular society. From the hilonim’s perspective, Barukh (whatever they believe it), at least he wasn’t learning Torah all day.
Akuperma, what shaychos?? On the contrary, this is what happens when one is not taught a proffession.
Chazzal did indeed warn us of such a thing multiple times in Pirkei Avos. I didn’t believe it b’metzius until now.
#20 so if we taught him a profession, he might have become another Madoff, or perhaps he would have become a lawyer specializing in perverting justice for a fee, or a doctor taking kickbacks from drug companies, or perhaps a banker … You can’t always choose what you do for a living, but you can always choose whether to be honest. Everything is in the hands of heaven, except fear of heaven.
Is he from “Mea Shearim” or Ramot? Did he have two homes?
Why do his parents have to pay? They have obviously suffered immensely from their son with his psychiatric problems.
get a job leave kollel if you are not for it

#6 and #7 – Where in the article does is say that he learns, in kollel or elsewhere?
#8 MY APOLOGIES – I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THE AVREICH MEANS A “LEARNER” – YOU PROMPTED ME TO GOOGLE THE WORD AND FIND OUT ITS TRUE MEANING – I AM INCLUDING A QUOTE THAT I FOUND – INDICATING THAT I WAS TRULY IGNORANT, HOW RIGHT YOU ARE – “Oct 26, 2010 The Avreich Who Doesn’t Learn Is Also An Idiot” SO SAD THAT WE GIVE CREDIT TO THOSE THAT DONT DESERVE IT – AND AT THE EXPENSE OF THOSE THAT ARE REALLY SINCERE.
