Members of Israel’s elite Shayetet 13 naval commando unit boarded a Liberian registered vessel 300 kilometers (180 miles) from Israel. Based on intelligence information it was believed the vessel which was boarded on Sunday, 30 Nissan 5772, was carrying weapons and ammunition to Hamas-controlled Gaza.

The naval team contacted the captain of the vessel and it requested that the ship shut down and permit the military team to board to inspect the cargo. The vessel’s captain complied.

According to reports from Jerusalem at 21:30 local time, the vessel is not carrying any suspicious cargo. The inspection appears to be continuing at this time.
