Earlier this week, YWN-ISRAEL reported a yeshiva bachur was imprisoned in a European country.
A first court appearance for this young man is set for next week in the case of a Bnei Brak yeshiva bachur arrested in Holland for traveling with a forged passport. The bachur tried leaving Holland to return to Eretz Yisrael during chol hamoed Pesach, but was arrested when customs officials determined his passport had been tampered with, citing the expiration and other details were modified.
A friend explains that he changed dates to permit extending his stay abroad.
Attorneys Mordechai Tzivin of Israel and Herman Loonstein of Holland are on the case and they remain optimistic. The bachur is reportedly being held under good conditions, and Lunston verifies that state officials are treating him quite well.
The hearing is set for Tuesday, 2 Iyar 5772.
