3:00PM EST: Thanks to an overwhelming response by readers from YWN, and the dedicated work by Boro Park Shomrim, the elderly individual who was disoriented and could not find his family, has been reunited with them. As YWN had posted earlier thsi morning, the man entered a shul in Boro Park asking for his family. Shomrim was contacted, and his photo was published in the hope the someone would recognize him. Hundreds of people called Shomrim – who needed to have as many as 5 dispatchers answer the calls – and thanks to the information, the man is now safe and back at home.
The photo has since been removed.
FIRST REPORT 11:30AM EST: The man pictured in this photo is lost. Boro Park Shomrim says he wandered into a local Shul on Tuesday morning, and told people is “looking for his family”. He is disoriented and confused. He says his name is Avramle Guravitch. If you know who he is, or have any information which can assist Shomrim in finding this man’s family, please call their hotline immediately at 718-871-6666.
UPDATE 1:40PM EST: Shomrim is receiving dozens of calls stating that they recognize the man as someone who collects money in shuls – from Far Rockaway to as far away as Monsey. At this point they are trying to find out if anyone ever sees this man go into a vehicle, and if yes, what type of vehicle it is.
