While IDF Central Command Major-General Nitzan Alon was suspending Lt.-Colonel Shalom Eisner, reserve duty soldiers and officers were drafting a letter which has already been send to IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz, a letter of support for the commander. All of the reservists who signed have served under Eisner during 2008-2011, and cite his qualities as a superb officer.
“We wish to express our support and admiration for the man, as a friend and as a commander who maintains a high moral standard” they explain, continuing by citing many of his previous assignments during the past two decades in the IDF.
The signatories admit Eisner acted “too emotionally” but feel his past, two decades of excellence must weigh in at this time, fearing the street justice that is being meted out against him by politicians and the left-wing media.
It is also pointed out that the force was not addressing a peaceful protest but violence against soldiers on the scene. Soldiers were attacked just for being who they area, by ISM activists who arrived in Israel solely to provoke confrontation. It is also pointed out that even with his face and name splashed in the media, Eisner refrained from speaking with the press other than a short benign statement to Channel 2.
Supporters of Eisner point out the hypocrisy of the anarchists, who opt to come to Israel to stir the pot while in neighboring Damascus, unarmed citizens are being slaughtered daily by government forces and the world simply fails to act.
The signatories add it is clear to all that the video clip does not portray what occurred prior, and that the picture presented to the world at large is not an accurate one.

They come to Israel because they can. They won’t go to Syria, they don’t want to risk getting killed. They know Israel is a Democratic Country and they are safe. Relatively speaking of course.
