2:00PM EST: A large brush fire is burning along Paterson Plank Road near the Meadowlands sports complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Large plumes of black smoke could be seen from a distance.
A Red Flag warning for the tristate was no longer in effect Wednesday.
Dry conditions and strong winds were believed to have been a contributing factor to several brush fires that broke out in the tristate this week.
UPDATE 2:05PM EST: Firefighters are battling a brush fire along the New Jersey Turnpike near the Meadowlands.
Authorities said the blaze started at 1:15 p.m. It’s escalated to three alarms.
Fire officials say the flames are contained to brush and no buildings are involved.
No injuries have been reported.
Ten fire departments responded and are working to douse the flames.
UPDATE 2:50PM EST: Minor traffic delays are being reported as some of the black smoke is wafting east over the New Jersey Turnpike, WCBS 880 reports. No evacuations have taken place.
