Israel: Police Want Chadrei Chareidim Shut Down

Israel police investigators involved in the ongoing case against the senior management of the Chadrei Chareidim website are calling upon the state attorney general to close the site down. Police feel they have gathered sufficient evidence to support allegations of extortion by the suspects.

“G”, the CEO of the website is the main suspect police confirm. Five arrests have been made to date, with some of the suspects released with restrictions while others are behind bars.

Police are confirming that senior website officials extorted victims by telling them if they did not make monthly payments, negative publicity about them would continue or alternatively, they would accept payoffs to post positive articles.

Police today approached Housing Minister Ariel Atias to see if he was one of the victims of the website’s alleged extortion racket but his aides state this was not the case.
