America and some of its allies are planning to demand that Iran dismantle and shut the Fordo nuclear facility located deep in a mountain near Qom, the New York Times reports. The report is based on diplomatic sources. A senior Obama administration official told the paper that the White House is uncertain just how Iran will respond to the demand which is set for Friday, April 13, 2012.
Senior US officials have recently released strong statements regarding Iran signaling that the window of opportunity for a diplomatic solution is rapidly closing, signaling the US may play some kind of role in a military strike against Iran. Some analysts explain that if Israel does launch a strike, which is the most likely scenario, the United States will be involved in several aspects from behind the scenes.
While the White House may condemn Israel in the media, it is evident at this point that the Iranian threat must be neutralized, sooner rather than later and some experts believe there is already US involvement in various stages of Israeli planning ahead of such an attack.
