Anonymous Baal Tzedakah Donates 15 Million Shekel To Avreichim

For 1,500 families of avreichim yomtov will be a bit easier from a financial point of view. A philanthropist has donated to the families and they received envelopes marked “Keren M’Shomayim” Chadrei Chareidim is reporting, stating the philanthropist is among the major Baalei Tzedakah in the Torah world.

The list of those in need was furnished by a number of kollelim in Eretz Yisrael, kollelim selected by random. The donor insisted that the yomtov donations be made anonymously.

Shluchim were selected to distribute the funds to the homes of recipients in cash.

  3. Very special may he have long years to continue doing great charity. Just wondering 15 Million for 1500 families is 10k each would it not be better to give less to more??

  4. I personally gave out close to 100 of these gifts. What this article doesn’t really seem to dwell on is not only that such a huge amount of money was given out, but that some very special person researched all the communities (Yerushalayim, to Elazar, to Tsfat) and found and selected 1500 people who were talmidai chachamim and in need of funds. That requires alot alot of time. It’s sometime easy to write out a check if you can afford it, however it is a totally different matter to invest time into a donation as well

  5. @Anom

    You state that:

(He researched) “and found and selected 1500 people who were talmidai chachamim and in need of funds”

I don’t understand-if they were not found to be talmidai chachomim they weren’t prvovided with maos chitim? Where does it say that a criteria of tezadakah is that the recipient be a talmid chacham? Who determines who is and who isn’t a talmind chacham. Just wondering….

  6. There are unfortunately many more aniyim in Eretz Yisrael then 1500 people. The person who gave out the money decide to give to those that are both and talmidai chachamim (which is the halachah incidentally).
