More on the Tragedy in Antwerp

According to reports coming out of Antwerp, the child who died was 18-months-oild, a little girl who fell out of a window on the fourth floor of a residential building.

The tragedy occurred at approximately 4:00pm on Dansatelli Street in a chareidi area of the city. The girl is reportedly from a choshuva family in the chareidi community affiliated with Machzikei Hadas. She was pronounced dead shortly after the fall.

Chadrei Chareidim reports the mother left the home to run some errands before yomtov. She left the little girl with her hold brother, an 18-year-old. It appears that the child went over to a window in one of the rooms, one that has a screen against insects installed. Officials surmise the little girl leaned against the screen with her body weight and it simply gave way, leading to the fatal fall.

EMS personnel arrived on the scene but there was not much to be done. The father, an avreich in the Vishnitz kehila came home and found the street closed to traffic. He was horrified when he realized the event was taking place in his home.

Police have launched an investigation.

Askanim worked with authorities and it appears they succeeded in having the body released for kvura.
