Rav Nachum Weissfish, the victim in the Monday morning terrorist attack near Meah Shearim remains in Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Yerushalayim.

While the media describes his condition as light, he did sustain a fractured skull from the blow of the axe to his head, as was confirmed by a CT scan. Baruch Hashem there is not internal bleeding and doctors are optimistic that Rav Weissfish will be home for yomtov B’ezras Hashem.

Rav Weissfish was assaulted by an Arab male as he was walking home from shachris at the Kosel, as has been his minhag for decades. Police report that what saved him from more serious injuries is the fact that he fought his attacker and successfully wrestled the axe from his hand. The terrorist dropped the axe and fled the scene.
