New Yorkers looking to update their wardrobe for spring are in luck. Starting Sunday, the state is raising its tax exemption for clothing and shoe purchases from $55 to $110.
Any purchase under $110 won’t be hit with the state sales tax of four percent or the MTA tax of .375 percent.
Clothing and shoe purchases up to $110 are already exempt from the city’s local 4.5 percent sales tax.
That means on a $100 purchase, there would be a savings of $8.88.
The state tax holiday will run for one year.

Why would anyone in ny buy clothing there when you can go to no and not pay a red cent in tax
Nope. Only save $4.38. $4.50 is already being saved since last March.
