Increased German Concerns Over an Israeli Attack Against Iran

Following a meeting in Berlin earlier in the week with Defense Minister Ehud Barak, German Defense Minister Thomas de Maiziere told reporters on Tuesday that he is increasingly concerned over the possibility of an Israeli strike against Iran. De Maiziere told the local Bild newspaper that after he talks with Barak, “I am more concerned than I am secure” regarding the possibility of an Israeli strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities.

He stressed that everything possible is being done to discourage the Iranians, including sanctions, but cited Jerusalem feels the sanctions simply are not powerful enough to bring Iran’s nuclear efforts to a halt.

He warned that there are cabinet ministers in Israel who simply fail to calculate the risks, the “negative consequences” of an attack, and this worries him. He feels that such a move at this time would have dire consequences and as a close ally of Jerusalem, Berlin is warning against such an action.

  1. Their bubbes & zeides didn’t seem too concerned over an attack on Poland. Oh, but now its the Jews trying to protect themselves from another Holocaust all of a sudden the Germans are “concerned”. They should mind their own business.
