A JetBlue captain is in FBI custody after sources tell ABC News he was acting erratically on a flight that was diverted from JFK to Amarillo, Texas.
According to sources on the plane, the co-pilot removed the captain from the cockpit and another captain, traveling off duty, entered the flight deck prior to landing at Amarillo, and took over the duties.
Witnesses say the Captain was subdued by an off duty NYC cop and by an off duty Jet Blue pilot.
The flight took off from JFK before 7:30 a.m. and was headed to Las Vegas before being diverted to Amarillo, Texas.
JetBlue released the following statement:
Flight 191 departed New York’s JFK airport at 7:28 am ET (was scheduled to depart 6:55 am ET). At roughly 10 am CT/11 am ET, the pilot in command elected to divert to Amarillo, TX for a medical situation involving the Captain.
Another Captain, traveling off duty, entered the flight deck prior to landing at Amarillo, and took over the duties of the ill crewmember once on the ground. The aircraft arrived Amarillo at 10:11 am CT, and the crewmember was removed from the aircraft and taken to a local medical facility.
Customers remain on board at this time. JetBlue is working with local authorities and airport officials for the safe deplaning of the aircraft and will send a new aircraft to continue the flight to LAS.

Don’t get it. Was he ill, like in not feeling well, or ill ascin crazy? Well, either way, why the FBI? But if he was acting like a terrorist in some way, why the hospitol?
guess he was off his meds like the flight attendant few weeks ago
Of course this is vague. This is a Jetblue press release. We can hardly expect them to issue a statement that they had a mentally ill person or a criminal flying one of their planes.
I have a second cousin who was on the plane. I have heard from him (indirectly) that he was spewing antisemitic remarks and threatening to crash the plane.
Sorry #6 we cannot accept the testimony of someone who would go to Las Vegas.
on phone with a passenger…Pilot snapped..wild stuff..
He didn’t take his anti-Jihad pills that day.
#7 – The Goq:
There is a very good reason to go Vegas. There is an annual trade show for wholesalers this week. (Whole week). I personally have family members there now.
