An investigation into Tuesday night’s fatal blaze on Najara Street in Rechovot is underway, police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld confirms.
The blaze erupted at about 22:00 on Tuesday night. Firefighters were unsuccessful in rescuing the family members. As a result, Guy Shear (38) was killed along with his children; Eliav (11), Evyatar (8), Amitai (7), Shira (3), and Itamar (1) z”l. City officials announced the levayas will take place in the city at 3:00pm.
Fire marshals are checking into the blaze, with preliminary information pointing to an electric short circuit. Officials have already contact Israel Electric Company for the plans and to see permits for the electric work in the building.
According to a report in the daily HaMevaser, the family got up from shiva last week after the mother’s brother was niftar. She discovered the blaze and told officials her husband ran in to save their children, but he apparently was trapped by the flames that engulfed the two-story structure as well.
Neighbors reported “death screams” emanating from the burning structure as the children cried out for help.
According to Rechovot Police Chief Yair Chatzroni, the family appears to have been renting two rooms inside the two story structure. Firemen first addressed another side of the building where the fire was burning out of control, apparently unaware the family was trapped on another side.
What actually occurred seems to be unclear at present as eyewitness reports are also contradictory.

What actually occurred seems to be unclear at present but what is clear to us is that Hashem is begging us to do Teshuva.

We are dreaming and running around to get that special new clothing for Pesach so we can show it off in the hotel or to friends on Pesach (Lekvod Yomtov of course) but Hashem is crying out loud and begging us to get closer to him and stop being so busy with our selves all day, perhaps run around for your neighbor who is in financial distress and get them what they need for Yom Tov? try spending five minutes a day thinking “what can I do to make Hashem happy” so we may still merit to bring a Korban Pesach this year.
