Moving to Daylight Savings Time in Israel

Israel will be catching up to N. America later this week when clocks move forward one hour to daylight savings time. The move will take place at 2:00am on Friday, 7 Nissan (Thursday night March 29th to Friday morning March 30th), at which time the clocks will be moved forward. This will put the east coast of the USA back to seven hours behind Jerusalem instead of the current six-hour time difference.

While many are less than pleased with the change, which will make seder an hour later, those who get up for neitz shachris are smiling as they benefit from the additional hour in the morning.

However one feels about the change, on Friday morning, erev Shabbos HaGadol 5772, Eretz Yisrael will awaken IY”H to daylight savings time.
