A major 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck near Acapulco on Mexico’s Pacific coast, the U.S. Geological Survey said on Tuesday. The massive quake with an epicentre in Guerrero state has shaken central southern Mexico, swaying buildings in Mexico City and sending frightened workers and residents into the streets.
Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard’s Twitter account said the water system and other “strategic services” were not experiencing problems.
