Police on Monday, 25 Adar 5772 arrested three chareidi men suspected of operating a fictitious kollel that received government funding from the Ministry of Education.
The suspects are between the ages of 35-40, and they reported to government agencies that they had dozens of avreichim studying in their kollel. They received hundreds of thousands of NIS annually to support the avreichim.
An investigation was launched after one of the avreichim who is listed on the roster was requested to report to a Ministry of Education official, and the latter learned that in actuality, he did not attend any such educational framework that is recognized by the government. He does learn, but in a kollel that does not receive state funding. The avreich filed a complaint with police after learning his name was listed at another kollel, which was collecting government funding in his name.
The suspects are being remanded in the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court.

Good guy, and true yirei shamayim.
So who is going to pay the State back the monies now? these could have gone to real Mosdos, families, poor, medical supplies, etc.
“The avreich filed a complaint with police….”
Hmmm Is that called MESIRA?
#2, no, it is called hashavat aveida.
Why would you call this mesirah?
This honest man’s name was being used improperly! Wouldn’t you be furious if you found out that your name was being used in a scheme to steal money? I know I would.
Funds are not unlimited. Other, deserving mosdos could have used that money.
I’m sure he consulted with his Rov. Give the guy a break, he already saw his name being used for geneivah, now you want to call him a moser, too?
Actually its called vhayshiv es hagzayluh…
To #2, I don’t see where it says that the avreich filed a complaint. According to what I see, it says “the latter”, which refers in the sentence back to the Department of Education, which learned that the avreich was not learning in the supposed institution that it was confirming at that time. No Mesirah at all.
mesirah is defined as “moser mamon yisrael beyad “AKUM”. This does not apply here. The gov’t of Israel, as much as it acts inappropriately, is still run by JEWS.
Why are we accepting the word of the anti-Torah police, reported by the anti-Torah media, that these men broke the anti-Torah laws of the medina? If they did take this money and use it for kosher purposes, maybe they only reclaimed a little of what the medina has been taking away from avreichim. Only a beis din can decide.
