Danon: We Shall Not Allow A Repeat Of The Pogroms Of The Early 20th Century

Following the massacre at the entrance to a Jewish school in Toulouse, France, in which four Jews were murdered, including Rabbi Jonathan Sandler and two of his children, the Chair of the Knesset Immigration, Absorption & Diaspora Affairs Committee, MK Danny Danon (Likud), has called for an urgent debate tomorrow morning.

Danon stresses that “the attack on the Jewish school in France is a red warning light for the whole of world Jewry. The countries of the world must unite against such attacks against the Jewish People, and take action to destroy the seeds of anti-semitic terrorism being planted around the world. We shall not permit the pogroms of the early 20th century to be repeated in Europe.”

The French Ambassador to Israel, His Excellency Christophe Bigot, has been invited to attend the meeting on “Antisemitism in the Diaspora”. Other invitees include representatives of the Ministries of Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Immigrant Absorption and Strategic Affairs, The National Security Council of the Prime Minister’s Office, The Jewish Agency, CRIF (Council of the Jews of France), the Jewish Federation of France, the American Jewish Committee, the Union of Jewish Communities, the Project for the Study of Anti-Semitism at Tel Aviv University headed by Prof. Dina Porat, The Stephen Roth Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism and Racism at Tel Aviv University, The Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism at the Hebrew University, and The Council of Immigrant Associations in Israel.

The meeting will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, 20 March at 10:30 a.m. in the Committee Room at the Knesset and will be broadcast live on the Committee Portal of the Knesset website.
