Sarkozy: To Early to Link Terror Attack to Murder of Soldiers

French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced that while there are signs linking today’s terror attack to the recent shooting deaths of three soldiers, one cannot draw such a conclusion so early into the investigation. French media reports indicate the same caliber weapons were used in both attacks.

The French president expressed outrage over the attack at the Otzar HaTorah School in Toulouse and extended his sympathies to the families of the dead and wounded.

French Interior Minister Claude Gueant has ordered stepped-up security for Jewish schools, not wishing to take chances and unwilling to rule out a link to Iran and Tehran’s tenacious efforts to strike out against Jewish and Israeli targets around the world.

President Sarkozy called the attack “a national tragedy” and instructed schools to observe a minute of silence for the victims on Tuesday, vowing law enforcement officials would apprehend the shooter.

  1. You are late – they already decided the same gun was used to kill the soldiers (who were decidedly non-French racially, two Arab and one African-Caribbean). Whether it was an anti-immigrant (anti-foreigner) bias, or an Islamic anti-France attack, is yet to be decided;.

  2. UPDATE (courtesy of DEBKA):

“President Nicolas Sarkozy is flying to the schene of the attack after ordering security boosted at all Jewish schools and institutions in France.

“Toulouse police have barred photos of the school. They are investigating links with a recent attack by a black-garbed motorcyclist answering to the same description who shot dead three French parachutists and wounded a fourth at the nearby town of Montauban before escaping. They had all served in Afghanistan.

“The two attacks point to an extremist Muslim individual or group dedicated to striking “anti-Muslim” targets.

“France has Europe’s largest Jewish community, estimated at up to 700,000 people.
