Netivot Students Heading Home Following Rocket Attacks


12:15 IL: After rockets were fired at Beersheva and Netivot this morning, Thursday, March 15, 2012, Netivot school officials have decided to notify parents that if they agree, their children will be sent home. Those parents unable to pick up the children or make arrangements for them, they will be permitted to remain in school with supervision until the end of the school day.

One katyusha rocket landed in an open area of the city, close to a school. B’chasdei Hashem there were no injuries.

Another katyusha was fired at Beersheva, intercepted by the Iron Dome. Fragments fell down below, landing near the city’s largest school. Beersheva schools did not open today. The mayor decided to defy IDF Homefront Command instructions to reopen schools, explaining that until such time the rocket fire is halted, he is unwilling to place the city’s children on the front lines.
