The fire that erupted in an Elad kindergarten on Sunday, was a hidden bracha for at least one family, as the routine physical examinations of the toddlers taken to the hospital for light smoke inhalation led to the detection of a possible life-threatening birth defect.

18 babies and toddlers were transported to Schneider Children’s Hospital and Sheba Medical Center ‘to be safe’, wishing to have physicians check them after they were exposed to the smoke that resulted from an electrical fire in their kindergarten.

One of the babies underwent the same routine exam as all the others but in his case, a birth defect was detected that had previously gone undetected, and doctors explained that if it was not found soon, it may have been too late chas v’sholom. Hospital officials called it a “miracle from Hashem”, explaining if the child had not been brought in, it could have been too late to save his life when the situation became serious.
