According to figures released by Israel Police, 10 million people visited the Kosel and Jerusalem’s Old City in 2011. Rabbi of the Kosel and Holy Sites Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz states the remarkable numbers are testimony to the fact the Jewish People hold the remains of the Beis HaMikdosh in high regard.

Kotel Heritage Foundation officials add the increase is evident year round and not just during yomim tovim and chol hamoed. Foundation officials add that 2 million people took part in their educational projects throughout 2011, including Kotel Tunnel tours, Chain of Generations Museum, the Bar Mitzvah project and other related special events.
