The ongoing campaign to bring the real picture of the chareidi community to members of Israel’s secular media continues, this time involving senior officials from Haaretz.
On Sunday morning, at the behest of MK Rav Moshe Gafne, a number of senior officials from Haaretz arrived in Bnei Brak, visiting Ponevezh. Among the VIPs was Editor Aluf Ben, Gideon Levy, Nechemia Strassler and Yair Ettinger. The visitors met with Mayor Yaakov Asher and they took part in tefilos and tehillim for Maran Posek HaDor HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita, albeit for a brief few minutes.
Once again, the visit was the fruit of the labor of Yarach Tucker and Shlomei Falk.
It is part of an effort to bring the chareidi community to the members of the mainstream press, whose association with this tzibur is too often limited to a negative portrayal of the people involved.

Great fruits of labor. Only through exposure, talking, meeting and associating will stigma, angry and misconception change (from both ends).
Remember WE ARE BROTHERS!!!!
How do you know the fruits of labor? Who said they’re any less sonei dat?? Shwaiyah, as they say in Israel. Wait until they write WE ARE BROTHERS!!!!
#2 AND i will wait till we write that WE ARE BROTHERS, too.
Haaretz is by far the most neutral Israeli paper, both about chareidim and about most other issues. They regularly write very positive articles and opinion pieces about chareidim. Gideon Levy, in particular, is a very strongly ‘pro-chareidi’ journalist. Unfortunately I can’t post links here, but he has repeatedly spoken out in favor and defense of chareidim many times. Other articles in Haaretz have covered issues in and around the Edah, Meah Shearim, Bnei Brak, Rav Shach, and many other chareidi issues, and nearly always in a completely neutral and factual tone.
The only thing one can say about Haaretz is that they are, in general, decidedly anti-settlers. Therefore, the dati leumi community *hate* Haaretz. Most chareidim, having never seen anything from Haaretz, hear this and assume it must be anti-religious as well.
I have a collection of several pro-chareidi articles by Haaretz and in particular by Gideon Levy saved. Anyone who personally knows me may approach me and I’ll send them through.
