Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin on Tuesday morning, telephoned Deputy Minister of Health Yaakov Litzman after the latter was in Shaare Zedek Medical Center to inquire into the status of Maran Posek HaDor HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita. Rivlin also spoke with MK (Yahadut HaTorah) Moshe Gafne.

In addition, President Shimon Peres spoke with Gafne, telling him that he is reciting tefilos for Rav Elyashiv, calling on the public to do the same, telling Gafne “we must daven because the nation’s needs the rav”.

On Monday, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the president spoke with Gafne as well, extending their good wishes and more importantly, seeking to inquire as to the gadol hador’s status.
