Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Friday warned Washington that Iran would respond to any strikes on its nuclear program, saying the consequences would be “10 times more detrimental” for the US.

Khamenei, who led the weekly Muslim prayers in Tehran, responded to US warnings that “all options are on the table” over Iran’s atomic activities.

“They have threatened that all ‘options are on the table’… Threats of war are detrimental to the United States, and carrying out a war would be 10 times more detrimental for that country,” he said.

Iran has its “own threats” to respond to any military attack or sanctions against its oil exports, Khamenei said.

“In response to threats of oil embargo and war, we have our own threats which will be implemented at the right time, if necessary,” he said

The supreme leader also had sharp words for Israel.

“In future too, we will support and help everyone who opposes the Zionist regime,” he said. “The Zionist regime is a real cancerous tumor that should be cut and will be cut.”
