A chareidi family from London arrived in New York City on Monday, 28 Teves 5772 for the chasnah of their son in Boro Park. Unfortunately, their excitement was somewhat diminished when they found themselves without anything that they brought for the happy event.
Their suitcases were packed with clothing for the simcha as well as for events before and after, not to mention the many gifts they brought along. After receiving their luggage they exited the terminal building and waited outside for a taxi. They found a vehicle large enough to accommodate their impressive load and negotiated the price with the driver. All that remained was to load and get in, off to Boro Park.
They loaded the many suitcases into the vehicle, and the Russian driver got in. He started the vehicle and then took off, leaving the couple standing curbside as he drove off with their belongings.
The couple turned to Port Authority police who were responsive, checking security cameras in the hope of tracking down the perpetrator, looking for the vehicle – more importantly the license number.
The couple explained that they will be compelled to go shopping if they don’t track down the thief and their belongings by day’s end.

Can you update us on this? Did they find the driver? It’s hard to believe!
why is it hard to believe, it’s ny.
These guys stand around the terminal asking if you need a van, when the port authority CLEARLY has signs warning against accepting their offer on every baggage carousel. The problem is- many do work for real companies and are just looking for some side business, so the cops can’t crack down on their soliciting because they have all the proper documentation. Bottom line…..It’s not England, and some arrangement should have been made with a frum driver. Zol Zein a Kapporah!!Mazel Tov!
u sound like a brooklyn hocker.. where is ur sensitivity, imagine it happened to u!!
