Education: Sign Outside Manhattan High School Says ‘Shcool X-ng’

A glaring misspelling on a street sign outside a Manhattan high school has some laughing that the mistake’s gone unreported for months and stauncher critics condemning what they perceive to be a symbol of the “dumbing down” of American society.

The painted pavement on Stanton Street outside Marta Valle High School reads “SHCOOL X-NG.”

The Department of Transportation claims the mistake was made by a utility provider, not the city, according to The New York Post. The agency said it would reach out to the contractor to have the error fixed.

  1. Really!? This is an issue? A missing “i”!? What next? Will the “green” light on the new traffic lights really be more of an “aqua”? Oh The Humanities!
I agree that the society is being “dumbed down” but I think that all this indicates is that nobody made a big deal about something that truly doesn’t matter. All the “critics” should get a life and find something worth criticizing.

  2. Sof davar: you’re kidding, right? Read the sign again – u missed the other, glaring mistake…
And chill. It’s funny and worth pointing out.

  3. dear mr 2, you sound smart, but then again, u might want to think inside the box a little more often. No offense, i just think you should focus your frustrations elsewhere.
