HaGaon HaRav Yaakov [Chai ben Margalit] Yosef Shlita stated on Thursday, “My chances for recovery are slim but in the zchus of tefilos I can recover”. The rav has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer R”L.
Following a weekly Thursday night shiur, Rav Yaakov Yosef told the tzibur “My professor, an expert with patients with pancreatic cancer, explains my chances are extremely slim. He explains that with statistics from patients around the world, my chances are very slim indeed”.
Rabbi Yosef added that the doctor then continued, “You should know that those who speak about the stories also say ‘for the Frum, those who believe, we don’t have statistics but we have Torah and tefilla’. You must continue davening and it is possible to beat this”.
The rav turned to the tzibur, a packed audience, asking them to continue davening and learning towards his merit.
The rav is 66, the bachor of Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita, one who literally gives tens of shiurim daily. Baruch Hashem, for the time being, the rav is continuing his daily schedule, giving his shiurim and meeting and consulting with people.
