President Peres to Visit USA in Coming Weeks


President Shimon Peres is scheduled to leave for the United States on March 1, 2012, to attend the AIPAC (The American Israel Public Affairs Committee) annual policy conference. Mr. Peres will actually address the opening of the event.

The AIPAC leadership has decided to pay special tribute to the President in recognition of his life achievements in establishing and strengthening of the State of Israel and in building the strategic relationship with the USA. It should be noted that AIPAC is in the process of completing a documentary film on the President which will be screened to the 12,000 participants of the conference.

The President will deliver an address at the opening of the AIPAC Policy Conference and will also hold policy-related meetings with members of the US administration.

President Peres will pay a working visit to Silicon Valley and hold marathon meetings with the heads of leading global hi-tech companies. He will call on the company heads to establish and expand the activities of their R&D centers and other branches in Israel.

Immediately after his visit to Silicon Valley, the President will meet with Jewish community leaders and will present to them the new vision he is formulating regarding relations between the State of Israel and Diaspora Jewry. The President will also be meeting with leading opinion-shapers, including media representatives and heads of the American film industry. These meetings will provide him with a platform to advance Israel’s international public diplomacy.

Prior to his American trip, President Peres is scheduled to participate in the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 25, where he will meet with heads of state and corporate leaders.
