Seven Alarm Blaze Threatens Irene-Damaged Jewish Businesses in Cornwall, NY


Cornwall, NY – Dozens of firefighters, police and emergency personnel are at the scene of a large fire in a massive warehouse located at 2 MIll Street, which housed at least a dozen Jewish businesses. A large column of smoke could be seen for miles. The fire was reported about 10:50 a.m. By 11:22, firefighters reportedly had pulled back and taken a defensive stance in the battle with the flames.

As of this report, the fire is already a seven-alarm blaze.

MonseyScoop.com is reporting that this is the very same building which had over a million dollars in structural damage from Hurricane Irene, this past summer.

More than a dozen Jewish businesses on premises were largely out of work after the Mudna Creek crested over its banks and wiped out companies from a packaging firm to closeout shipping yard to a furniture seller.   1. hashgocha protis, I just learned, there was a big furniture assembly plant in this complex, providing furniture for many upstate and Brooklyn stores and customers, fortunately he moved out last year, so he avoided the irene damages and the fire.
