“384 transplant surgeries from live and dead donors as compared to 228 in 2010.”
A significant reason for this increase in due to one man living in Har Nof, Jerusalem. Rabbi Yeshahayu Heber who heads the Matnat Chayim Organization, has been instrumental in increasing live kidney donations through their efforts. He has made over 50 kidney “shidduchim” for free, over the past 2 years. He couches donors & donees through the bureaucratic process & advises & guides them after the operation – all this lesheim shamayim.
