Chief of Military Intelligence Major-General Aviv Kochavion Wednesday, January 11, 2012 explained how Hezbollah and Iran are working to keep Syrian dictator Bashar el-Assad in power as much of the Arab world and the international community is seeking to bring an end to his brutal regime.
Kochavi explained that as international pressure against Syria increases, but Hezbollah and Iran, referred to by the intelligence chief as the “evil axis” are stepping-up efforts to keep Damascus alive.
A number of senior IDF officers have already announced publicly that if at some point and time the Syrian leader realizes his reign is ending, it is very likely that he will launch some type of attack against Israel before stepping down.
