Obama Team Denies ‘Billion-Dollar’ Re-Election Campaign

Have you heard about President Obama’s $1 billion re-election campaign?

So has Obama’s re-election team — and they say it isn’t so.

Obama’s campaign is also using the claims about a billion-dollar campaign to keep raising money from their supporters.

In an e-mail entitled “they’re misleading you,” Obama campaign manager Jim Messina asks supporters not to be fooled by “chatter from the other side about the President’s so-called “billion-dollar war chest.”

“Because they know that kind of sum turns people off from politics, they’re misleading you,” Messina writes. “We do not and will not have a billion-dollar war chest.”

In asking small donors to keep giving, Messina adds: “They’re trying to make you think your support doesn’t matter to the President. What kind of difference does $5 or $25 make to a billion-dollar campaign?”

Saturday is the deadline for fourth-quarter campaign fundraising.
