After 66 Years, Holocaust Survivor Reuniting With Family That Saved Her

The Katz family has not seen the Ruzgys family in 66 years, but that is all changing today.

In 1941, in Lithuania, the Catholic Ruzgys family helped the Jewish Katz family escape the Nazis, hiding them, even selling their material items to keep the family safe.

Today, they are expected to reunite when the Ruzgys children, Aurimas and Egle, will meet Holocaust survivor Mary Katz Erlich at Kennedy Airport.

  1. We should all learn from the Ruzkys Family, they did not care whether the Katz Fam was born to a mother who is part of their religion.

A Human being is a Human Being, and we should teach our children to be Mispallel, Care, Worry for every Human Being and not ask, “Iz Ehr Ah Yid?”, or, “Iz es Gevein Ah Yiddishe Neshumo?”.

Then we could all hope for the Geulah Shleimu.

  2. ader, i’m not sure i agree with you hashkafa-wise about that – we say in davening אוהב עמו ישראל, רופא חולי עמו ישראל, and probably many more examples. so if we want to follow HKB”H’s ways, this is one of them

but they are definitely חסידי אומות העולם
