The Beersheva District Court on Sunday, 23 Cheshvan, ordered another psychiatric evaluation of Asher Dahan, the accused murderer of Baba Elazar, Rabbi Elazar Abuchatzera zt”l in July 2011. While the suspect has already undergone a number of evaluations since the murder, there have been different results, compelling the court to order yet another evaluation.

In October, Dahan’s attorney argued that constant changes in his medication make an honest evaluation most difficult, if not impossible. The problem surrounds the conflicting conclusions of two evaluations, with the expert in one case saying he is competent to stand trial while the second states he is incompetent and cannot be held accountable for his actions.
