New York – Senate Republicans appear to be serious about creating a long-rumored “Jewish district” in Brooklyn..
According to a well-connected Republican source who saw a copy of their draft redistricting maps. The idea, the source said, would be to put as many Orthodox Jewish voters as possible into indicted State Sen. Carl Kruger‘s Senate district. Nobody is counting on Kruger staying in office for long, and Jewish voters helped propel Republican Congressman Bob Turner to a special election victory this fall. In the prospective Senate race, the Republican candidate could also potentially use same-sex marriage as a wedge issue against Councilman Lew Fidler, who supports it and is presumed to be the Democratic candidate for the seat.

Concentrating a group into on district cedes that district to the group, but limits that groups influence to a single district. It means the Republicans get one extra seat now, at the price of losing the possibility of gaining several seats later. Remember Turner did not win with Jewish votes alone – there are a lot of goyim who aren’t amused over the Democrats’ performance. Much of the broader “Jewish” influence in Congress comes not from majority Jewish districts, but from districts with significant Jewish minorities. Giving up being a factor in many districts for control of a single district isn’t necessarily in our interests.
Very well said akuper, if they go ahead witg this it hurts long term, and I suspect that even if the perks of getting free bussing, and police watch around the clock in the district seem great, its then only gives a small voice to the overall picture.
