Brooklyn – Councilman David Greenfield will host a community safety forum with representatives of the NYPD and the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office at 7pm tonight in response to Friday’s hate crime. The forum will take place at Congregation Ohel Moshe – Lubavitch at 841 Ocean Parkway (between Avenues I & H). Items on the agenda include an update on the investigation of last week’s attacks, what measures have been taken since, and how residents can work with the authorities to make the community safer. All members of the community are invited. However, to protect the privacy of the victims the event is closed to the media.
“We need to do everything we can to support the victims of last week’s arson and ensure that nothing like this ever happens again,” said Councilman Greenfield. “Tonight’s meeting is all about how neighborhood residents can work with the authorities, especially the outstanding men and women of the NYPD, to make our community safer.”
Councilman Greenfield is encouraging all members of the community to attend tonight’s meeting and urging anyone with information that could lead to an arrest of those responsible for last week’s arson to call the NYPD tips line at 1 (800) 577-TIPS. Greenfield was the first to offer a reward, which has since been increased by generous community leaders to over $30,000, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this terrible crime.
