Maran Hagon Rav Aron Leib Shteinman Shlita, may soon be coming to America, published reports state.
The Gadol Hador travelled from Bnei Brak to Yerushalayim on Motzei Shabbos, to be Menachem Aval the family of Hagon HaRav Nosson Tzvi Finkel ZATZAL, the Rosh yeshiva of the Mir Yerushalayim.
As YWN has reported, the Mir Yerushalayim is currently between $10 and $20 Million in debt, and Rav Shteinman discussed this with the Aveilim.
One option which was discussed at the Nichum Aveilim, was that Rav Shteinman would travel to America together with the new Rosh Yeshivah, Rav Lazer Yudel Finkel Shlita, to collect the much needed funds.

Why make the Rav shlita leave E’Y and travel here at his age… etc.?
Why can’t we just contribute from here? I am not particularly wealthy but i can help in any other ways needed in order to collect the $$ …
There is someone that is reading this that has a better head for this than me… Please anyone that is good at this, any ideas?
yiddishemishpacha,
Why you mean well with your question/statement. The fact of the matter is is that when u meet someone in person you are more productive is getting money. The presentation goes much further to the point and overall success is hit especially by hitting bigger donors. I know this is fact for my self being in business I always get more money from my clients when I travel to southern states much more then calling me. The secind part is that Rav Shteinman has a certain misras nefesh in his body and he is wiling to scarifice time to save over 3000 bachurim form not learning.
I read somewhere that one of the Maspidim at the levayeh of Rav Ahron Kotler ztsl (if I’m not mistaken it was Rav Teitz zl)asked “Why don’t we say Al Cheit Shechotonu Al Bittul Torah? Because if a Gadol like Rav Ahron had to close his Gemoroh in order to come to us to collect, rather than us coming to him with our money, that is such an aveiroh that we can’t even ask H’ to grant us Mechiloh on that Bittul Torah”!
I am looking forward to meeting them. Hopefully, it will be a successful visit.
To set the record straight:
R’ Noson Tzvi zt”l told Rav Steinman that he wanted his oldest son to take the reigns following his passing. When Rav Steinman shlita mentioned this at the levaya, R’ Laizer Yudel shlita declined, saying that he cant take on the debts. Rav Steinman shlita told him that if he headed the yeshiva from now on, he would ensure the debts would be cleared. It is for this reason that Rav Steinman came to discuss the debt and how to clear it.
One idea mentioned was writing a sefer torah and charging $100 per letter. This was put on a back burner as Rav steinman suggested that in the times of the חפץ חיים they tried the same tactic, which failed and caused problems with what to do with the raised funds.
Another idea was to publish a letter written by the ראש הישיבה זצ”ל that every talmid should set up a direct debit for part of their מעשר money. After writing it, he never published it. They debated whether to publish it now.
There were other ideas mentioned. The main thing is that we support Torah as an עליית נשמה for the late ראש הישיבה, and hopefully in this זכות he will be a מליץ יושר for us and all of כלל ישראל.

That seems like the correct Hashkafa.
It doesnt reflect well on us at all if we make a Gadol who is in his 90’s who isnt in great health travel across the world so that the Mir should not have to close down due to its debts!
