The chief rabbis of Tzfas and the chareidi community have published a kol korei decrying the chilul Shabbos in the city by Bar Ilan University and the State of Israel. The flyer addresses the construction of a new medical school in the city and the chilul Shabbos that has been taking place on that site, as was reported by YWN-ISRAEL

The flyer addresses the detestable actions of the parties involved, in the “Holy City, the city of the Arizal, as well as Rav Shlomo Alkabetz and other Kedoshei Yisrael ZY”A”.

The kol korei also calls on “anyone with the ability to protest the act must do so, not chas v’sholom sitting back passively”.

The kol korei praises the actions of HaRav Yitzchak Ovadia (of Kollel Avreichim of Yeshivat Tzfat, headed by HaRav HaGaon Rav David Kaplan Shlita), Rav Ofir Touito (Kollel Avreichim of Mosdos Yated Tshuva headed by HaRav HaGaon Rafael Cohen Shlita, Rav of the Sephardi community), Rav Eliezer Dov Fromowitz and Rav Eliezer Lazar, all of whom having worked considerably to prevent the chilul Shabbos.

HaMevaser reports that local residents have indicated that a portion of the construction site has collapsed, resulting in significant damage.

HaMevaser adds that a senior Bar Ilan University’s president confirmed the report, adding the construction was apparently faulty, resulting in the collapse.
