The FDNY is currently on the scene of a two-alarm fire inside Montefiore Hospital in the Bedford Park section of the Bronx.
The fire department confirms that part of the hospital has been evacuated and no injuries reported at this time.
Heavy smoke is reported inside the emergency room of the hospital, officials said.
Sources tell YWN taht the HVAC system has apparently pulled smoke into and throughout the building. The Emergency Room has been closed to incoming patients by FDNY EMS. FDNY and EMS are staging at East Gun Hill Road and Bainbridge Avenue. The hospital administrator reports that the hospital has declared an internal emergency and has opened their command post adjacent to the Emergency Room.

I thought they have those doors that close automatically when there is a fire. How did smoke get through if they have these doors?
