MDA EMT Akiva Pollack was the first on the scene at the home of the Mir Rosh Yeshiva, HaGaon HaRav Nosson Tzvi Finkel Zatzal on Tuesday morning, 11 Cheshvan. He spoke of the experience with Kikar Shabbat; explaining what it was like after the Rosh Yeshiva collapsed in his home.
“The rebitzen called the moked emergency dispatcher at about 6:00am and the dispatcher began giving instructions, what to do as the first units were responding. I was the first to enter the home and the scene of shock and hysteria was quite apparent. Neighbors and talmidim alike were running around hysterically. We worked on the Rav for 50 minutes, and during that time the Rav’s personal physician arrived, and it was he who pronounced the rabbi dead, ending resuscitation efforts”.
Pollack states that he arrived within minutes of receiving the call and everything possible was done.
According to officials involved in Levaya arrangements, over 100,000 people are expected to take part. The levaya will begin at The Mir at 12:00 noon and then proceed to Har Menuchos for kvura.
