A gag order on the case was lifted on Sunday afternoon, 9 Cheshvan, permitting publication of the arrest of a suspect in the Shabbos stabbing attack of a 17-year-old Jewish male in Ramot.
The attack occurred on Shabbos, October 22nd, leaving Yehuda [ben Ronit] Ne’emad in very serious condition with multiple stab wounds. He was walking in the Ramot area of the capital when the Arab male from nearby Beit Iksa lunged out with a knife and began stabbing him.
The arrest was made on Thursday, 6 Cheshvan, and the suspect, a 20-year-old student, has admitted to his actions. Earlier today, Sunday, November 06, 2011, he reenacted the attack for police, stating he was motivated by nationalistic reasons, ruling out any theories of a criminal incident.
A special unit in the Jerusalem police worked with agents of the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) towards apprehending the suspect.
