Air Force Operation Magic Wand – Protecting Tel Aviv From Rockets

While the media focuses on prisoner release deals and the so-called peace process between Israel and the PA (Palestinian Authority), the Israel Air Force is busying itself with Operation Magic Wand, the deployment of a missile defense system intended to provide protection for the Gush Dan area in the event of a missile attack.

The system will have the capability of operating in all weather conditions, intended to take out rockets fired into the Greater Tel Aviv area from Gaza or Lebanon.

Just a few days ago, Hizbullah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah stated that if Israel launches another military offensive against Lebanon, Tel Aviv and not northern Israel will be his first target. On another front, Israeli intelligence officials are growing increasingly concerned with Hamas’ improved weapons arsenal in Gaza, realizing a rocket attack from the former Gush Katif communities may indeed place Tel Aviv within range.

The intelligence community has reported that it appears that among the weapons arriving in Gaza compliments of Iran via Syria and Hizbullah, terrorists have also looted weapons storage facilities in Libya, with the current political instability in that country providing an opportunity for Gaza-based terrorists.

The Magic Wand system officials report will also be capable of providing a response to long-range missiles, such as an incoming projectile from Iran, a Shehab missile. Iran already test fired long-range missiles capable of striking Israel back in 2008, a missile which Iranian officials reported can carry a one ton warhead.

  1. i thought the whole point of yeshiva news is that they should mention hashem and not always IDF can do this IDF can do that “with hashems help”

  2. Now let’s see if Hamas will give all their weapons for one Israeli weapon…. Like Israel did for them…. Then we’ll call it some kind of “Normal deal”

  3. Unless YWN has a spy in the IDF (in which case bad things will happen to you as soon as the Shin Bet finds out) this story is a public relations plant which may or may not be true, and may or may not have any connection to reality. Militaries don’t normally disclose tactical information of the type discussed in the article. A reader has no way of telling whether or not to believe such an artiucle.

  4. May Hashem watch over His children and protect them, and may His children realize and recognize that ONLY Hashem protects them. May He quickly and speedily destroy ALL our enemies!

  5. There is no “magic wand” that can completely protect Israel, much as the patriot was far from effective during the gulf war. There is only the Shomer Yisroel. And we need Him more then ever now.

  6. These new anti-missile missiles from Operation Magic Wand cost ONE MILLION DOLLARS per missile!
They are NOT an answer when Hezbollah starts launching (as they eventually WILL) THOUSANDS of rockets into Israel. Both because of the prohibitive cost as well as the limited supply of these anti-missiles, Israel must act PRE-EMPTIVELY to destroy the enemy arsenals BEFORE the country is under attack.
It is time to use a little Yiddish’eh saichel (as in 1967) and a LOT of Yiddish’eh tefilah to destroy our enemy NOW, and stop worrying what obama, the UN, and the E.U. will say about us. I much prefer words of condemnation to LIVE Jews, than ‘tearful’ words of comfort and consolation over dead Jews.
